Gear Review: Outdoor Vitals Lofttek Synthetic Jacket.

I really wanted to love this jacket, here for $100.48

I was in search of a synthetic hooded jacket to perform better than my Patagonia Hooded Down jacket in wet weather. I came across this jacket and it was love at first sight. The more I researched the company (Outdoor Vitals - they do good videos on Youtube), the more I liked this jacket, because they are a small disrupter type company and I liked that.

My Take

So as far as looks go, this jacket is great. Also it has features I really liked such as the thumbholes, cinch cord, pit-zips, water repellent DWR exterior, elasticated cuffs, its packability, weight and breathability. Everything you could want, and you can tell the company really wanted to make a great jacket for hikers. The problem was the fit - the strangest fitting item of clothing I have ever tried on. It was super tight around the belly (I purchased XL but usually wear a L), and super baggy on the upper portion. The upper arms looked like they had made a measurement error in the manufacturing as there was so much excess material. Instantly I knew it was a return and there was no way to make it work. The reviews I read indicated that several others had the same problem.

The Final Score

5/10 - With different dimensions, this would be a fantastic jacket. I still will support this company and will likely use their products again, but cannot recommend this jacket.
